Busta Rhymes @ Street Scene 09

Oh Busta, you were the second act in a row to go over 20 minutes late. The other 30 photographers and I were all pretty upset that you put our precisely set up schedule in the blender. You were late because of sound issues and I understand but come on spend the extra cash and find someone who knows how to get rid of interference / feedback.

Photo Notes:

Besides being late he was energetic but stayed fairly still. All images are unedited.

Band of Horses @ Street Scene 09

Walking away from shooting Band of Horses all that I remember is Ben Bridwell's voice. I know I stood there in the pit a few times just staring in amazement. They put on a great show to say the least.

Photo Notes:

Next to editing because I enjoy shooting the show and not so much editing the images. My view on editing has always been keep as close to the original as possible. More images are available on my flickr.

The Dodos @ The Pink Elephant

The Dodo\'s The Dodo\'s

The Dodo\'s

The Dodos seemed to sit in the darkest of the corners. There were 3 band members, one did not move and one did not stop, making it impossible to freeze motion. The third was only in a few shots total and only a couple songs. Its hard to say who stole the show this night.

Lighting: Lighting at the The Pink Elephant is by far the worst venue I have ever attempted to shoot in. I was mostly at 6400 at a very show shutter. Even with the 50mm at 1.8 it was hard to capture light.

Gear: I shot with my Nikon D300 as well as my nifty 50 1.8 and cheap 18-55. I dont mind shooting with the cheap lenses when there is not an allocated photographer area. I set my Auto ISO to shoot between 200-6400. I prefer the D300s image in black and white when shooting at 6400.

Thee Oh Sees @ The Pink Elephant

Thee Oh Sees

Thee Oh Sees were great live but I dont think they expected the paparazzi's to show up. I went with 2 other photographers and we all were snapping away in the dimmest venue yet. I pulled off some great shots at iso 3200 and above, my camera never dropped below that.

Dajjal Persona @ Soma

Dajjal Persona

Dajjal Persona had a great stage presence.

Lighting: Lighting at the Soma’s side stage is painful but not as bad some venues. The lights are constantly changing and it doesnt help when the band does not stay still.
